About Hit Camp, Trincomalee
The Surin Phuket illustrates the indigenous values of Thai culture through distinctive designs, natural colour, native sounds and historical art. The textured fabrics of green, saffron, and gold are used in the cottages and are inspired by the spiritual traditions of the 'Wat' or temple, that is at the centre of Thai culture and community. The Surin is proud to be part of Design hotels, recognised globally for their independent boutique hotels.
We have recently been through a time of renewal. Paris-based Ed Tuttle who originally designed The Surin, formerly known as The Chedi, is back to rejuvenate this celebrated resort. The charm of beachside tranquility remain the same, but all of our guest cottages and the resort's restaurants and facilities have been upgraded and rejuvenated for your comfort. For those of you who are returning to us, you will find that our core values continue and what makes a stay with us truly special is our attentive and hospitable team, who are all still here from when you knew us once before.
Location of Hit Camp, Trincomalee
Thailand "The land of a thousand smiles" comprises 77 provinces. Fondly referred to as the Pearl of the South, Phuket, located off the country's south-western coastline is the only island province in Thailand and is 867 km from the capital, Bangkok. The island runs 48 km (34 miles) north to south, and 21 km (16 miles) east to west and is connected to Phang Nga province by a motor bridge in the north. Phuket is surrounded by the azure Andaman Sea, which joins the Indian Ocean to the south. Aside from its crystal watery surroundings and powder white beaches, Phuket is an island blessed with the natural beauty of mountains and valleys with the Khao Phra Thaeo National Park protecting more than 20 square kilometers of rainforest.
Phuket is the most cosmopolitan town with the highest developed infrastructure in Thailand. Tourism has inadvertently become a main source of living but much of the country's customs remains rooted in present day society. Activities are diverse with the island's colourful mix of age-old traditions and inevitable commercial modernization. Sino-Portuguese and European influences are apparent, particularly in the architecture of Phuket Town.
